Lessons from a Life of Organizing: What It Takes to Make a Difference

This spring, the Memorial Fund, in conjunction with the Zoom Foundation, hosted an event for community organizers called Lessons from a Life of Organizing: What It Takes to Make a Difference, featuring lifelong community organizer Lawrence Hamm. Lawrence shared many stories and lessons from his experience as the lead organizer for the Million Man March contingency from New Jersey and founder of the People's Organization for Progress, especially about the historical and current issues related to power building, leadership development, and best practices.

Lawrence discussed what it means to commit to organizing, what it takes to successfully execute campaigns, and how he has sustained organizing both as a way of life and as a way to address community issues and needs. Check out his talk here.
