Grants
Equity Grants sit at the core of our funding opportunities and tie directly to our mission. Other grant opportunities are listed on the right side of this page.
Equity Program Grants:
Anyone interested in applying for an Equity Grant should read these instructions to determine if you should follow the steps for current grantee partners or, for new groups, submit a Letter of Inquiry.
Guided by our mission to achieve equity in education by working with those affected and inspiring all to end racism and poverty, the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund partners with groups and organizations focused on one or more of the Key Issues, and whose work aligns our Program Focus Area organizational characteristics criteria. Grant decisions are made by Trustees twice per calendar year.
Application Process
For New Applicants
Step 1. Complete the Letter of Inquiry (LOI)
Step 2. Program staff will reach out to the groups with potential alignment to schedule a brief conversation.
Groups that seem aligned will be invited to complete an application and participate in the application process for current equity grantee partners outlined below.

For Current Equity Grantee Partners
Step 1. Complete the Equity Grant Application, which will be sent by the Grants Manager. The staff review team will read and rate applications individually and then meet to share ratings and rationale.
Step 2. Some groups will be invited to a conversation about their application. This is often required for groups that are new or for whom staff have outstanding questions, but not necessary for all current grantee partners.
We value the time of all groups working to advance equity. We have tried to create a more equitable application process that is not a heavy lift and relies more on conversation than written words. We welcome any feedback about our application process.
