Connecticut Voices for Children

Connecticut Voices for Children is a statewide, research-based policy and advocacy organization committed to promoting leadership, policy change, and investment on behalf of all of Connecticut's children and youth.

This report is an overview of early care and education in Connecticut, discussed in the context of child development, workforce development and in relation to Connecticut’s economic competitiveness. The report considers some of the financing challenges in assuring high quality care to children of pre-school age and the state’s role in this effort. Published in February 2003 by Connecticut Voices for Children.

Web site Business and Early Care and Education: A Review of Engagement Strategies and A Connecticut Example
Published in June 2003 by Connecticut Voices for Children. This report summarizes the national literature on business engagement and provides case examples for six strategies businesses have used to engage at the national, state and community level on child care and school readiness issues and provides a look into Connecticut’s history of and opportunities for business engagement in early childhood issues.

This report summarizes data from the 1990 and 2000 Census about the distribution of child and family poverty among Connecticut’s 169 cities and towns and changes in this distribution over the 1990s.
